Katherine Nelson-Tracey, Director
Originally from North Dakota, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Music Education and a Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance from the University of North Dakota. In 1998 she earned a second Master’s degree in Choral Conducting from George Mason University. Katherine teaches voice and piano in her private studio in Woodbridge, VA, and serves as an adjunct professor for the Woodbridge campus of Northern Virginia Community College, teaching voice and piano. She is the founding director of NDC through which NVCC students can earn ensemble credit. She is active in the American Choral Directors Association and has served as the Repertoire and Standards Chair for Community Choruses and 2-Year Colleges on the Virginia ACDA Cabinet over the past ten years. She sings with the National Philharmonic Chorale at Strathmore Music Center in MD and is the soprano I section leader. Katherine lives in Woodbridge with her husband, Bill, and is the proud parent of four children and grandparent of eight grandsons.
Ryan Pick, Assistant Director
Originally from Woodbridge, Virginia, graduated from Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in 2003 with a degree in Music Education. In addition to being the Assistant Director of the New Dominion Choraliers, Ryan is also the Music Director at Grace Lutheran Church in Woodbridge, Virginia. He is a private flute, piano and vocal teacher as well as an accomplished composer. His "Psalm 23" earned him the "Bishop’s Approval" in 2002. Ryan has been awarded the Conservatory Award for outstanding musicianship (2003) and the "Teachers Who Have Made a Difference" award by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (2005). Ryan also appears in the 2006 edition of "Who’s Who in America." To date, Ryan has conducted, performed, played the flute, and composed music for almost twenty musical ensembles ranging from vocal to orchestral music.
Joe Swetnam, Lead Accompanist
Joe is originally from Columbus, Ohio. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University; a Juris Doctorate from Capital University; and an L.LM. from The Judge Advocate General’s School in Charlottesville, Virginia. He served in the U.S. Army as a Judge Advocate, a career that included tours in Germany and Korea. He is currently a lawyer with Gross, Pring & Associates, and serves as a Board member and treasurer for Project Mend-a-House. He is the Director of Music at Bethel United Methodist Church and church organist. He provides music for various choirs at Bethel, along with weddings and funerals. He also provides music from time to time for senior citizens’ homes. He, his wife Terri, and their children came to the Woodbridge area in 1989.
